| About this website The idea of creating this website came to my mind about a year ago. I often traveled for business and I occasionally thought of attending some church-sponsored singles activities in the areas that I visited. It was not always easy to find information on singles events in a particular city or area even though there are quite a few singles website or email lists that have been set up independently by the singles in different areas. I thought that it would be great if there were a central website that would bring together under one roof the information on singles events from all areas of the United States. But there was no such thing. I felt prompted that I should create one, but I had no knowledge of building websites; however, that prompting stayed on my mind. I like to read and learn new things. I have read several good books on relationships and personal development in the last several years and have learned much about relationships and about myself. I have also learned to appreciate the importance of personal growth. I thought it would be nice to have this kind of information available on the website that I day-dreamed about building. It would help singles understand more about relationships and learn to prepare for a happy marriage and a successful life. Several years ago, I received a calling to serve as the stake single adult representative for my stake. I became quite active in the singles program of the church and had the opportunity to make friends with a lot of singles. I was often touched when I saw the hardships that some singles go through, especially the single mothers. I can relate to them as I am a single myself. Working with the singles over the last several years has helped me develop a sense of compassion for them. I often thought about what I can do to make their lives better or easier. I felt there was a need for a centralized resource to help bring the singles together and to provide information that is helpful to them. I have been given much in my life. Donating my time, energy and funds to build a website for the benefits of my single brothers and sisters in the gospel would be a great way for me to pay back my Heavenly Father, especially considering the fact that a very large percentage of the church members are single. I recently read a book written by Stephen Covey with the title of "The 8th Habit - From Effectiveness to Greatness". After reading this book, I decided to take on this project even though I know that it will take a lot of time and energy to build and maintain the website. I want to apply the message that I learned from this book which is "to live, to learn, to love and to leave a legacy". I started learning how to build websites. I got together with a few friends and formed a team for this project. After many hours of hard work...and fun, this website was finally born. My vision is to provide a multi-functional resource for singles to obtain information that would enhance their social lives, help them learn to manage the challenges of being single, prepare for a healthy marriage and a happy family, and grow to be their best selves.
